Just compare my grandfather's photo and then look at me. Look at the ears - the shape and size of the Kinard ears are an inherent Kinard trait. Just like my grandfather, I've learned to listen and present your views intellingently. My grandfather used patience and intellegent discussion as the answer to those who favored violent revolution.
Bishop Founded, Preached At the 'Wash-House' Church
One must understand the sentiment of the time in which my grandfather iived. Reared in Money Mississippi, the same town that lynched a fourteen year old Chicago boy named Emmitt Till, he was no stranger to the harsh and indignant treatments blacks at the time. This 1970 article is written by Reid Hanley, Beacon Religion Writer. In his 47 years in Wichita the Rev Mr. Kinard has seen many changes and improvements in race relations. The Rev. Mr. Kinard said that patience should be exercised more by the violent radicals. “Patients and intelligent discussion is the Rev Mr. Kinard’s answer to those who favor violent revolution.” The Rev Mr. Kinard said “We should use intelligence in what we do. The best way on earth to solve problems is to sit down and discuss. The Bible reads: Come now and let us reason together…we are just wasting time fighting, too much fighting denotes ignorance.” “Some want it now or bust, but you have to present your views intelligently. If I knock on your door you probably will let me in. But if I am kicking your door, you sure won’t open it!” “We should just take it easy and try to understand each other. That is one of the worst things –we don’t understand each other. Human nature is the same for black, white, Mexican or whatever.
My dad was stationed in Taipei, Taiwan from 1959-1961, he was assigned to Washington DC from 1961-1964. In between these two assignments my mother and brothers briefly stayed in Wichita and guess who arrived Oct 26, 1961. Yours truly!! Once the family was reunited in Washington DC, I got busy making campaign calls -smile.

Graze Isaiah Kinard retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1973. He gave his country twenty-three years of service. While stationed in Japan he met and married Taeko Koyanagi. To this union three sons were born with the youngest being Michael.
My Grandfather Graze Kinard aka 'Daddy Graze' was born in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. As a young adult he moved to Wilson Arkansas for one year and moved to Wichita Kansas, following the path of his brother Charles A Davis. He worked for Cudahy Packing Company for forty-five years and retired at the age of sixty-five. In 1927 he married Hattie McBee of Coffeyville, and to their union five children were born. His middle son James Arnold Kinard died as an infant. Pictured: Graze and Hattie, and their children (standing left to right) Barbara, Nilus, Malcolm, Junior Graze.
